Barbie in France 2! All fantastic information and graphics here is from Mr.Eric Chatillon’s personal collection same as before. he is very passionate famous vintage Barbie collector/researcher in France. I am very pleased to introduce him and his unmissable Barbie collection on my site.
Thank you so much for introducing Barbie’s landing story in Europe(especially France) in the 60’s Mr.Eric. these story is not well known in Japan.
Her rough steps in France
In France, Barbie product was sold by Les Jouets Rationnels. The company did a lot for Barbie’s success. They were the first to invent a Barbie fan club in 1964 and a Fashion show to present Barbie wardrobe on May 1964 to the press. Mr Mayer the director had a wife. Her dress designer Anne Marie Crielli was asked To create outfits for Barbie. 3 of them were produced in Japan plants for European market : quartier Latin, Roseraie and Bal des Petits Lits Blancs.

前回から続いて、今回の記事もすべてヴィンテージバービーコレクターであり研究でも有名なEric Chatillonさんから教えて頂いた情報です。画像も全てEricさんの個人コレクションからとなります。
バービーのフランス公式登場は1963年2月、Lyonでの玩具博覧会(Toy Fair)でした、フランスでバービー製品を輸入販売したのはLes Jouets Rationnels社。バービーの成功のために大きく動いた会社です。
まず1964年にバービーファンクラブを作り、その年の5月にはバービーの衣装のファッションショウをプレス向けに開催。そしてドレスデザイナーAnne Marie Crielliさん（社内重役Mayer氏の妻のドレスデザイナーだった）にドレスデザインを依頼、3点のヨーロッパ市場向けドレスが産まれました。※生産は日本。
画像下 左からquartier Latin, Bal des Petits Lits Blancs,Roseraie。1966年から1967年にかけて全ヨーロッパで販売されました。
Those 3 outfits were sold in all Europe and 2 of them in Japan too (not the one with the Carnet de Ball). They were sold in 1966 and 1967.

The tiny book is a Carnet de Ball. When a young lady used to go to a bal she would write the list of the names of the gentlemen who asked her for a dance.1966-67 #1677 Gala Abend/Bal des Petits Lits Blancs

アクセサリーの小さな本のようなものは’CARNET DE BAL’、日本語にすると’舞踏会の手帳’です。若い女性の持ち物でダンスを申し込んできた男性の名前を書いておきます。

画像下 1番はじめに販売されたヨーロッパ市場向けのケース、フランス製。描かれているのはEnchanted Evening を着ているバブルカットバービー。
このケースのマテル社のマークは”MATLLE,INC.”ではなく”MATLLE.S.A”と書かれています。この”S.A”は”societe anonyme”の略で日本の株式会社に相当する制度だそうです。
This is the first European case made in France in 1964. As you can see the drawing is a Bubble cut Barbie wearing Enchanted Evening.
