On the first two type of boxes of Ken, the three girls(must be Barbie) are illustrated with Kens. the three clothes these girls wearing are, I think: #983 Enchanted Evening(1960-63), #979 Friday Night Date(1960-64), and #923 Barbie Doll Accessories(swimsuit/1961-62) from top to bottom. Here, focus attention on the two gowns in white and pink. they could be considered to Enchanted Evening because Enchanted Evening was the only outfit made in pink with fur in this era. so why was the white colour gown drawn on the first box?
Normally the gown of Enchanted Evening was made in pink, but white version has been found. I’ve got an one of them and I’ve been looking for an information for it. finally I’ve realized that these Ken box illustrations themselves is the information. although the illustrations of 1961 box is not clear, some Kens with different specifications from the actual product also drawn here. so probably the early appearance was drawn here and some Enchanted Evening made in white as ‘commercial sample’.
